When making cards at Xmas time or for birthdays (and recently for Valentine’s day) I felt a bit frustrated because I h
ad to use simple envelope to send my “work of art”
So here is a simple way to spruce up a normal white evenole with some patterned paper that matched your card.
Choose a matching paper (not heavier than the envelope paper). Lay it on the table with the back facing you, lay on it the envelope you want to use with the flap open. Trace with a pencil the outline of it. You should get a shape similar to a square/rectangular with a triangle on the top (the fold).
Remove the envelope and with a ruler and pencil (or if you feel confortable directly with a utility knife) draw a line 0,5cm on the inside of the first drawing. Cut it and you have the liner
At this point the liner should slip easily into your envelope.
Holding liner and envelope in place, fold flap over and crease. Lift envelope flap, and apply glue to back of liner flap with glue stick. Fold envelope flap back down, smoothing to adhere to liner.
I was feeling a bit more daring, so I decided to make the entire envelope myself.
The process is quite simple.
* Take a envelope of size and shape you like, open it apart (or use this template)
* On a patterned paper or cardstock trace with a pencil or directly a utility knife the outlone of the template.
* Fold following the scheme of the envelope and score it (i use the handles of the scissors, they are flat but rounded on the edges)
*Glue it and add the liner following the instructions above and there you have it.
Idea for the wedding… DIY for rice tossing cones.
They seem quite simple to do.I will try to make the template and post it.
I have tried with a piece of paper shaped as a regular triangle (2 sides of the same lenght, this will result in 2 angles of the same size and on different). Holding the paper with the unique angle on top fold toward each other the other two angles forming a cone. Make the two sides overlap each other a bit.
If the 2 angles stick out you can fold them inside to have a neat edge.
With a hole punch make 2 holes on the front, insert a ribbon and tie.
You may find it more secure – especially when used to hold something small like rice – to secure the bottom by stapling the bottom.

This is a very nice project to do with kids around valantine’s day to dress a corner of the wall.
Tonight I don’t seem to be finding an end to my finds…
